Who qualifies?
Businesses that are locally owned, independently operated, established and licensed in the Greater Richmond region, and not part of a national or international franchise. Retail, restaurants, professional and home services, health and wellness, and other independent businesses can all qualify. Certification doesn’t expire — it stands as long as your business still meets the mark.

Questions, answered
Do I have to be an InUnison member to be listed?
No. Any qualifying local, independently owned business can become Certified Local and appear in the Find Local RVA directory for free. Membership adds extra visibility on top of that — it’s never a requirement.
What’s the difference between the two options?
Both make you Certified Local, with the badge, a window sticker, and a directory listing. With free certification you manage your own listing. InUnison membership adds Find Local promotion (the Perks Club, social Stories, and for Individual and Team members, managed listing updates and a blog feature), plus InUnison’s networking, advocacy and education.
Can I start free and join InUnison later?
Yes. Your certification and listing carry over. Once your membership is active, your listing is upgraded with member features automatically.
Does certification expire?
No. A business stays Certified Local as long as it still meets the criteria. If ownership, independent status, or location changes, the certification is reviewed.
Where will shoppers see my business?
In the Find Local RVA directory, in Find Local guides and shop-local features, and across Find Local’s email and social channels.
