Richmond’s Black-owned businesses are a vibrant reflection of the city’s culture, creativity, and community spirit. Whether you’re a local looking to explore something new or a visitor eager to experience the heart of RVA, this itinerary will take you on a journey through some must-visit Black-owned spots in town, from cozy cafés and wellness spaces to unique boutiques and must-try eateries. Read on for a day filled with inspiration, history, and incredible flavors as you support the entrepreneurs who help make Richmond’s small business scene thrive.

Begin your day with a warm welcome at Urban Hang Suite, a cozy spot that not only serves up a delicious cup of coffee but also embodies the spirit of community. After you savor your morning brew, head over to The Well Collective for a morning workshop. The Well Collective is a community-driven organization dedicated to fostering holistic well-being, restorative justice, and leadership development through inclusive spaces and collaborative efforts, which offers classes, workshops, trainings, and retreats.

After your class, stop by Waller & Co Jewelers, Richmond’s oldest Black-owned business, offering exquisite craftsmanship and timeless beauty for more than a century to pick up a new watch band (did you know vintage watches are making a comeback for 2025?) or look at some shiny new baubles. Drop off your sneakers at Kicks Klinic to get them looking good as new again, then swing down to Adiva Naturals for some homemade, all-natural self-care products. Looking for the perfect bold accessories? You won’t want to miss Sassy Jones in Short Pump Town Center.

Richmond’s culinary scene is a true testament to the Black chefs and entrepreneurs who enrich the local dining options, which means there’s no shortage of dining options for lunch. Penny’s Wine Shop serves a seasonal menu of small plates coupled with wines by the glass or bottle,  Mama J’s provides a soulful dining experience with its comforting and delicious Southern cuisine rooted in family recipes. Craving a sandwich?
